Beeyoutiful®'s Spirulina is a single-celled, fresh water, blue-green algae that has historically been a staple in some diets and is known to provide nutrients such as beta-carotene, vitamin B-12, iron, and chlorophyll, and important GLA fatty acids. The Kanembis tribe in North Africa lives near Lake Chad. Their diet consists largely of spirulina, and they boast terrific health. In addition to the other health benefits, spirulina has 18 out of the 22 amino acids needed by the body to maintain health and is around 60% pure protein, which affords the body a very balanced whole food nutrient when consumed.
Although the sixteenth century Aztecs harvested and ate spirulina from Mexico’s Lake Texcoco, Spirulina is now often grown in protected, organic ponds. Otherwise, spirulina from polluted sources can cause excess levels of lead, mercury, and cadmium in the body. Beeyoutifu®l does multiple sample, mass spectrometer testing on each and every batch harvested to assure that no environmental, pesticide or heavy metal contaminants are present in the end product.
Although prized as a super food, spirulina is also gaining in notoriety as a treatment option among cardiovascular sciences for its healing properties. For instance:
“This alga is a rich source of proteins, vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and other nutrients. Its main use, therefore, is as a food supplement. Over the last few years, however, it has been found to have many additional pharmacological properties. Thus, it has been experimentally proven, in vivo and in vitro that it is effective to treat certain allergies, anemia, cancer, hepatotoxicity, viral and cardiovascular diseases, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, immunodeficiency, and inflammatory processes, among others. Several of these activities are attributed to Spirulina itself or to some of its components including fatty acids omega-3 or omega-6, beta-carotene, alpha-tocopherol, phycocyanin, phenol compounds, and a recently isolated complex, Ca-Spirulan (Ca-SP).” (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12448336)
Note: Spirulina may interfere with anti-depressant medications, depressing or boosting its efficacy depending on the medication and the individual. Several customers have had success with taking it at different times of the day, so that the body is ready to absorb and use the anti-depressant without Spirulina interfering.
Being a busy mom of 6, I rarely ingest as many veggies as my body needs. This supplement can help make up for some of that deficit. I notice more energy (much-needed) and feel great when taking this product. Also love that I can trust that this is a pure form of this superfood.
After hearing about the health benefits of spirulina, I decided to try it. It definitely helps with my energy levels during the day. I love that I can trust this source from Beeyoutiful to be safe, with no contaminants. It is also in an easy-to-swallow tablet. I don't have any problems at all with the taste or smell - a little like powdered spinach!
I have been taking Spirulina for a while now and am feeling like I have more energy. I need to take it more consistently. I have heard favorable things about taking it for hypothyroidism. Need to get more information on this.
It is definetley difficult getting used to taking it because of the pungent smell. However, knowing that it is so good for me and also makes me feel good makes the whole smell thing no big deal. I did notice my energy levels have been up.
I started taking this product before I became pregnant. So far I am 10 weeks into my 1st pregnancy and I have had zero nausea. I know some women do not get nausea however I believe it may have something to do with this product. I feel great and plan to continue with Spirolina throughout my pregnancy.
I bought this product because I had read and heard that it was good for gum and teeth health. I was having some sensitivity issues with my gums and teeth and after taking this for just one week, the sensitivity is no longer an issue. My gums seem to be healing by the day - and my teeth feel stronger. I actually feel better overall, so I am a huge fan of spirulina and will continue taking it.
I have taken spirulina for years with good results, but Beeyoutiful's spirulina is so strong that I have been able to take half the recommended dosage with the same good results. Makes it last a long time!
I run out of energy at the end of the day and really needed something to help me make it to the end of the day - not just make it, but enjoy the end of the day. I have been taking the Spirulina for a few weeks now and I believe that it is helping me feel better at night.
I just recently tried this Spirulina and have been pleasantly surprised. I notice it has kept my energy up and my husband's, too! My kids cannot handle the smell, but I just have them plug their nose and swallow quickly, and they do not complain.
I give spirulina to my kids and husband since they don't like the taste of the powder like I do. It's a great product, I love it and the price is even better. I've tried other brands but this keeps being my favorite. Thanks you so much for having this available.
Five years ago I had a brain MRI to determine the cause of inflammation. Fortunately I had an earlier MRI for a different reason earlier in the year. The comparison of the two MRIs revealed a swollen Parotid gland and suggested activate cytomegalovirus. I located a paper that suggested that spirulina had been successfully used in treating the problem. I was shocked at the immediate relief the spirulina gave. I have continued to take 4 daily and have not had a recurrence of the problem.
A friend introduced me to Spirulina a couple of years ago. I was skeptical at first, but once I tried it, I'm a faithful fan! I notice a difference in my energy level and overall well being when I'm taking this supplement. It is a must for every supplement arsenal! :)
Would there be a need to take any other supplements like fish oil or vitamins with spirulina since it is loaded with so much?
Question by: Denise on Nov 26, 2016 5:23:00 PM
It depends on where you have specific personal nutritional deficiencies or gaps in diet. Fish oils contain omegas for example and multi vitamins contain various minerals and other nutrients that spirulina might not contain by itself. We suggest researching what is in spirulina in what amounts and speaking with your care provider to determine if additional supplementation would be ideal for your particular unique health situation, age, diet and lifestyle.
