Happy memories of holidays gathered around with family may be just a few of the sights and smells evoked by the lovely aroma of Cypress Essential Oil.
Steam distilled from the fragrant needles of the tree, this light and refreshing essential oil is slightly herbaceous and slightly sweet with a balsamic aroma.
The Greek culture ascribed calming and centered effects to Cypress, while Hippocrates claimed it could cure hemorrhoids.
Cypress supports healthy skin, the respiratory and musculoskeletal systems, and helps calm the nerves. It blends well with Bergamot and all Citrus oils, Clary Sage, Lavender, Pine, Marjoram, Sandalwood, Rosemary, Frankincense, and Myrrh.
Topically: Dilute with a carrier oil to a concentration of 1% Cypress Essential Oil to use as a topical massage oil (use 1 drop of Cypress Essential Oil to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil). This blend can be rubbed on the chest and neck during colds, massaged over achy muscles and joints, and to help calm a restless mind.
Aromatherapy: Cypress can be diffused by itself or in combination with other oils. Cypress is considered Kid Friendly and can be used with children two and up.
Pregnancy/Lactation: While Cypress Essential Oil (Cupressus sempervirens)may be generally considered appropriate for use while pregnant and nursing, we do not advise using it unless you first check with your healthcare practitioner and certified aromatherapist to ensure it is appropriate for your specific situation.
Note: Do not use Cypress Essential Oil on damaged or irritated skin, and never use undiluted. Please refer to suggested dilution ratio before using topically.
