Note: We now carry two different species of Cedarwood. This particular species,Juniperus mexicana, is known for its scent that captures the aroma of cedar in a bottle. It has the same therapeutic benefits as its counterpart Cedrus atlantica, but may not be quite as strong.
Few will deny the uplifting power of the warm and woodsy aroma of Cedarwood. Once distilled, Cedarwood Essential Oil boasts of one of the highest levels of sesquiterpenes, an active ingredient that studies show helps to calm and soothe the nervous system.
Legend has it that Cedarwood may be one of the first actual essential oils extracted and used. History tells of uses for skincare, preservation and mummification, and to uplift mood and help sleep. Cedarwood mixes well with Bergamot, Cypress, Cinnamon, Frankincense, Lemon, Lime, Lavender, Rose, Neroli and Rosemary.
Topical: Adding to lotion or your favorite toner helps to discourage blemishes and encourage healthy and supple skin. Add 1 drop Cedarwood to 1 teaspoon of a carrier oil or lotion. Topical concentration should be a maximum of 5% (7 drops to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil).
Diffuser: Cedarwood can be used separately or together with other oils to create a soothing and calming atmosphere. In general, Cedarwood is considered appropriate for use with all ages.
Household: Cedarwood adds a nice, clean aroma to all your household cleaning recipes.
Freshly Cleaned Floors
- 1/4 cup White Vinegar
- 5 drops each Lemon, Cedarwood, and Tea Tree Essential Oils
- a drop or two of Castile Soap
Add all the ingredients to a gallon of warm water. Use to clean floors. *Test on finish before using liberally.
