From the days of Hippocrates through to the Middle Ages and into the 19th century, Elder has been famous for its whole body supporting properties. It was used externally and internally, and in every kind of form: in rubs, syrups, tinctures, mixtures, oils, spirits, waters, liniments, extracts, salts, conserves, vinegars, oxymels, sugars, decoctions, baths, and powders.
The beautiful purple berries have long been considered the most valuable part of the entire elder plant. These beautiful elderberries have been dried to preserve as many of their active properties as possible.
Elderberries have been reported historically to soothe the intestines. They contain compounds that inhibit the enzyme flu viruses use to penetrate our cell membranes, and also have an action that helps to prevent the virus from invading respiratory tract cells. For this reason, elderberries have become a much-loved support for families to use during times of illness.
Storage: Dried elderberries store fairly well. Due to Beeyoutiful's herbs and bulk foods being primarily organic or wildcrafted, there is a slight chance that there could be some naturally occurring bugs. Beeyoutiful takes precautions on our end to minimize the chances, but we do suggest that you store them in a cold area - possibly the freezer - in an air tight container
