Product Description

Stephanie Tallent shares her uses with Frankincense Essential Oil in this Beeyoutiful Views segment.

Used for thousands of years, Frankincense has been an important ingredient in perfumes, facial masks and skin creams, as well as having a rich history of medicinal use. Frankincense "tears" – resin that drips from the Boswellia tree and then hardens – are the source of steam distilled Frankincense Oil, which carries a fresh, balsamic scent with notes of citrus.

The Treasure of Frankincense Oil:

Frankincense is rich in therapeutic properties and its uses are numerous.

One constituent of Frankincense oil is boswellic acid, which is known to have antineoplastic properties. It has been studied particularly for use in situations with bladder cancer and appears to be able to distinguish between normal bladder cells and cancerous cells.

Frankincense is also a great immune-booster.  Mixing this essential oil with a carrier oil and rubbing it into the feet and/or lymph areas is a great way to support immune function when under the weather or simply for daily maintenance.

Frankincense is quite famous both for its respiratory aid and its calming effects on the body. Used in a diffuser, in a bath or massaged into the skin, it helps to clear the lungs and ease breathing. It has also been used for problems such as asthma, laryngitis, bronchitis and coughs. At the same time, it works to calm the mind, soothe the nerves and brings about steady breathing. It is an ideal essential oil to use before going to bed and has even been used for its calming action during labor.

The astringent, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities of Frankincense Oil make it ideal for taking care of the skin and wounds. It has an excellent rejuvenating effect on skin, toning and revitalizing through its ability to repair skin cells. Add a couple drops to your favorite face mask! It has also been used on scars and stretch marks to help lessen their appearance and is widely known for its use in mending wounds, skin inflammation, sores, skin ulcers and acne. The anti-inflammatory property of Frankincense Oil is a great aid in a variety of chronic inflammatory problems, particularly joint pain, and can be diffused into the air, massaged into the skin or used in a bath for inflammation relief.

For painful menstrual cramps, add some Frankincense oil to a bath. It not only eases cramping, but also supports the female hormone system. One component of the oil, called sesquiterpenes, act to balance hormones as well as emotions and also stimulate various glands in the body such as the thyroid, pineal and pituitary. They are also able to cross the blood brain barrier, bringing oxygen to these glands and to the brain.

With such a wealth of goodness, it’s no wonder Frankincense was chosen as a royal gift for the infant Jesus.
