Chamomile was seen in ancient historical accounts dating back as far as Egyptian and Roman manuscripts. Uses ranged from sleep aids to cleansing of infectious areas on the body. Another interesting detail is that during large meetings, Romans would often "strew" chamomile, by walking on large bags filled with chamomile flowers to release the essence into the room and keep the crowd calm.
Given that it is generally viewed as beneficial use on all ages (including infants!), we consider Chamomile Essential Oil a must-have in all houses. It blends well with Bergamot, Clary Sage, Lavender, Geranium, Jasmine, Neroli, Patchouli, Tea Tree, Rose, Lemon and Ylang Ylang. We suggest a dilution of 4%. (To achieve: add 4 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil.)
Topically: Dilute with a carrier oil and then rub on the abdomen, neck, feet, and down the spine. it can also be used as a massage oil on fussy babies, upset toddlers, or even grouchy adults.
Diffuse: Can be diffused to create a calm and serene atmosphere. May be diffused by itself or in combination with other oils.
Notes: Although generally considered one of the safest oils, we do suggest that you always combine Chamomile with a carrier oil to a dilution of 4%. (To achieve, add 4 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil).
Pregnancy/Lactation: Although considered generally appropriate for use during pregnancy and lactation, we advise that you speak with your healthcare practitioner prior to use to insure it is appropriate for your specific situation.
